Mini Museums is an open-play kit for kids to easily create dioramas, models, and 3D art.

Project Value

  • Some information is better organized and communicated through 3D space.

This modular slide structure allows for parts to be explored individually through rearrangable frames or viewed as a whole.

  • What if building a diorama was made just as easy as creating a poster?

This project exists as an alternative to traditional dioramas or posterboard.

  • Arts integration is proven to increase student engagement, improve information retainment, and encourage critical thinking.

This flatpack tunnel book structure has uses that range from science class dioramas, to theatre class set designs, to history class timelines.

User Testing

  • The purpose of user testing was focused on product viability.

On the education side, we researched how children went through a process of creation with this object.

On the product development side, we researched what worked and what needed further engineering.

  • Initial testing was held with kids aged 7-12 enrolled in Pratt Institute’s Saturday Art School.

Testing was held again after further product development, one year later.

  • This project’s user testing was made possible through a research grant awarded by Pratt Institute’s Center for K-12 Education.
